I managed it this evening, my 5k route was completed in 27.49! I'm hoping it's not a one off but I'm not expecting a PB every time I go out, but I'm extremely proud of myself right now.
I've got a 5k race at the end of July and I'm not expecting to get anywhere near that time as I've ran the route before and it's hard, but I know I can do it and my runs now are going to concentrate on hills as I've not done many, my highest elevation being 33m.
It's doable people, I'm overweight and can make my legs go at a decent pace, so keep at it and achieve what you once perceived as impossible, because impossible is nothing, it's yours for the taking!

Wow congratulations. That's a fantastic time. Sub 30 5k is a goal of mine. I'm a few weeks away from yet, but I'll get there. Congrats again and best wishes for your 5k event in July.
Thanks pal, like I say I hope it's not a one off freak event but I was more relaxed than I've ever been and maybe that is key.
You will get there sooner than you think as long as you don't listen to your legs when they tell you they're tired, just keep plugging away because if I can do it anyone can
I'm running 6'30" most of the time so I'm not there yet but I'm ok with that, building stamina. Remember how impossible running for 30 minutes without stopping seemed just a few weeks ago?
Ran three 30s this week. Next week I think I might try two 30s and a 5k ( it might take 32.5-33mins, so manageable.)
Hills also a bit of an issue for me, my early weeks spent circling a lake on boardwalk so flat by very definition!
Thanks bonkers, 6.29 was my best pace after 9 weeks but I thought I could push myself that bit more and it's doable, I gave myself a month to get a sub 30 minute 5k and I'm really hoping this isn't a freak accident, everything coming together to make it possible.
33 minutes is good for a 5k, and that's the time I'm aiming for next month, purely because hills are my nemesis but I will conquer them just like I conquered this programme, as did you, and as will you.
