A few aches n pains can arise if new to running, they usually fade away with rest, but shin and knee pain seems to be more common. Are you having your rest days? Just doing the programme every other day? How are your shoes? Do they fit well and have good cushioning?😊
As you say aching not painful, this is probably one of the aches that happens and will settle. I would check your shoes as davelinks says. It may help to have arch supports and exercises to improve your arches.
Hi Endorphin (great name) as others have said, a few aches are normal when getting back into or starting out running. Our poor legs are in shock...but they get stronger with every run. So long as it is not too painful and persistent (after runs), I wouldn't worry too much.
I took some advice after having sore knees and shins to get fitted with some appropriate running shoes. I have flat feet so needed good arch support. These helped a lot and after the first few weeks, my shin and knee aches disappeared.
Good luck, well done and keep it up
Thank you for all of your replies. I am having the rest days between runs. I think I will look at getting new trainers.
