Break
Very important.
When you exercise you actually breakdown your muscles and the rest time is to allow them to re-build. If you don't allow that then you will experience fatigue and likely injury.
Made me smile.. this kind of post opens floodgates of replies...
Very, very important... Simple as that...Building running legs take time... and to develop strength and stamina also.

Note this section...
Rest days are critical. A rest day inbetween each run will reduce your chance of injury and also make you a stronger, better runner.
Resting allows your joints to recover from what is a high-impact exercise and your running muscles to repair and strengthen.
it is true and just like the mantra on the forum, whatever your fitness level, slow and steady, in conjunction with rest days... works
Of course, it's resting from running - you can do something else on those days (walking, swimming, weights ...whatever). But you must take the rest days
Thank you guys... appreciate the responses
The breaks are equally as important as the runs. Always follow the programme.
