You may get asked by this forum to take part in a survey about your views on clinical trials. Disclosure: my view is negatively impacted by Ben Goldacre's book Bad Pharma.
However, putting that aside, this is the quality of the questions that are asked in the survey:
[22] If you participated in a clinical research study, how convenient do you feel it would be to have clinical research procedures performed during your regular doctor visit (instead of having to make a separate visit to the study center)?
[ ] Very convenient
[ ] Somewhat convenient
[ ] Not very convenient
[ ] Not at all convenient
What possible answer does the question expect??? Of course it is very convenient to attend at my local GP (without all the expense and travel and inconvenience and hassle) instead of at a study centre. Talk about asking a question with a pre-conceived idea of the answer.
A more fair question would be: How far would you be prepared to travel to attend a clinical trail appointment?.
Anyway, dear friends. Rant over.
But if that is the quality of the survey about our attitudes to clinical trials, what do you think the quality of the actual clinical trial is going to be??
Oh, and let me spoil the surprise... you can leave an email address for a chance to be entered into a drawing for one of 30 $10 Amazon vouchers in August
