Having managed 20 mins three times in my comeback week last week, I wanted to try and go slightly further today. As usual for a Sunday the plan was to run around the next village once I'd dropped DD1 off. So having got changed and got there, she dashed off and I sat in the car trying to summon up the energy and motivation to move. Eventually I decided I had to just take the advice I'd give anyone else: stop thinking about it and just go.
So, out of the car, headphones in, podcast on, and get going. As soon as Runkeeper said that was five minutes, I started running - a whole minute before Laura said it was time (but we know she's a bit of a chatterbox! ). Oh the first seven minutes or so were horrible. I was tired, my head was just not in it, and my legs felt as though I was running through treacle. To try and help, I decided to vary my route a bit, and do most of it the 'wrong' way round.
At some point Laura told me that I was half way through - hooray. That's always a good moment, and today I realised that actually my legs were doing ok, it was just my head that wasn't convinced! Keeping on plodding, up and around the two small crescents, and into the last few minutes. I was just thinking that Laura had forgotten to tell me this was the last 5 mins, when she piped up and said 'just two minutes to go'! Gosh! Even knowing that I was planning on an extra minute at the end, that was a boost. Kept on, kept going, and even sped up (very slightly!) in the last minute!
So another good run done. My feet are still aching from a weekend of lots of walking, but I'm glad I didn't wimp out.
