A 10 miler!

Roughly 10 months after starting the C25K programme, I got out in the sun yesterday morning, and managed what I achieved to set out to do!!!! A 16.25km (just over 10 miles) run along the canal tow path!

Was elated, can't believe how far I have come!!!!

Who knows, a half marathon may be calling in the not so distant future!

It's only ten months. Take care at this point not to over do things. It's so easy to do! it takes 18 to 24 months to build up your running legs and body so til then be really careful. Go steady and increase incrementally using the ten per cent rule 🙂

The journey is fun and you don't want to interrupt it so steady as you go 😃

Thanks for the advice misswobble, I did have walking intervals within the 10 miles, and did considerably slow down the last 3 or so miles, but hear what you are saying.... I have been aware of the 10% rule, and have been using it most of the time.... (see I said 'most' of the time, (naughty me!).

I will take care. don't want to be on the injury couch... no running now until Wednesday, and then only a 30 minute slow run :)

Congratulations! 10 miles is a great distance! Rest up well now before your next run! Do you have any events in mind? - there are a few 10 milers. I did the Great South Run in Portsmouth last year, it was fab!🙂

Thank you.... no, no events in mind. Always run on my own, and never entered a race, but may look around for 10 mile races near me for the future .

I also usually run on my own (that's the way I like it!) but the big events have amazing atmospheres, if you don't mind the crowds! Smaller local runs can be a great option if you don't. Either way, enjoy your running! 🙂
