Hi

I have been walking for an hour 3 times a week for the last fortnight and today decided to try the couch to 5k. Completed my first one but at times I felt that I wouldn't make it however I managed to do it. Any tips on how to keep motivated?

You've started that's a fantastic start, I must admit it's not easy. Walking and running or shuffling as I do are different things. For example I can walk 7 or 8 miles with my dogs no problem at all. But when I started on C25K it hurt like hell, week 2 hurt even more but I learnt to slow down and I do mean slow in fact it's almost walking pace, got some fitted running shoes and today I've completed my first run of week 4. It wasn't that bad either. If you want to do it you will. Coming here I find helps with motivation and little tips.

You can do this I think you just have to want to.

Thanks, I will definitely do it. I think I started to fast on the running parts so next time I'm going to slow the pace a little. I've decided that I'm not going to be overweight and unfit when I turn 50 next year!

Many go off too fast and have problems, only run just above walking pace, slow & steady. Diet also still plays a big part in weight loss. Doing c25k and continuing running is a great way to keep fit, but as for losing weight, that will happen, in time!😊

Absolutely !!

I just keep thinking of actually being able to run 5k in 7weeks !! And I get emotional 😭 but I'm determined to do it and at 51 it's going to be one hell of achievement! X

This place is the best motivation. Keep coming here to tell us how it's going!

Slow and steady, this is a sprint so think of it as a marathon. My first run of week 1 was the hardest and now I've just finished week 2.

My last run today I actually managed to run a bit longer and managed 21/2 mins but I'm dreading my first run of week 3

Just go at your own pace but if you think you can manage a few extra seconds then do it, but likewise if you can't manage the full 60 seconds then that's ok too, you'll build up to it and then slowly but surely you'll get there, and this forum is brilliant for support, too know I'm not the only one feeling like I'm feeling g really helps me 🙂

Slow & steady and you'll get there xx

Yep.. slow down :)

You have made a start and that is the hardest part...now... just one slow step after the other... motivation will grow, until you will be waiting for your running days to come.. honestly! Now...on you go :)
