Pain after w1r2 should I rest more?

W1r2 have really enjoyed first two runs but dreading the third run for this week as I was chasing the kids in garden yesterday and got this awful pain in my lower back. Should I have another rest day, slow down or buy some better trainers? Help! I've tried stretching but just get pins and needles.

Slow down.... :) It is , at the start, the only way.

Your body will experience pain.. but you will soon recognise the.." What are you doing to me" pain from the "This is serious" pain:)

Good running shoes are really a must, to get to Week 9, injury free and having had fun. There are plenty out there, and not all mega-bucks!!

So..if you feel you need a rest day extra, then take it.. this is your journey and not a race :) Try strength and flex on your rest days, they will help, I feel sure..

So many of us used these and they may help your aches and pains too..make sure you warm up well and have a good hot shower after, with a bit of massage too :)

Let us know how you go on with your next run? Good luck!

Thanks for the advice, that strength and flex app looks good I will combine it and as you say slow down. It's hard though to run slowly.

I have looked at trainers and didn't realise there was so much variety. I am absolutely not paying the £100 + price tag some seem to have! I thought £40 was steep ha ha

Slow is good...you will embrace it as the runs get longer ☺

Plenty of good reasonably priced shoes around..you just need to find what suits 😐

You don't need to fork out much for running shoes for the programme. Sportsdirect have decent Karrimor Tempo on sale for £25 at the moment. Try some on as you will need at least a half size bigger than normal as your feet swell when running

You can expect to feel niggles if you are new to exercise. Have an extra rest day if needs be. Keep going though. The rewards are obvious 😃
