I am 42 and never ran , I am about to start and was wondering if any way to ease the inevitable pain I am about to set upon myself.

Hello and welcome. If you follow the C25k programme you are required to do a 5 minute warm up walk before you begin each run. Some folk walk a little further if they feel the need to do so. Start the runs slowly which also helps with the warm up.

There is much debate around pre exercise stretches, usually agreeing if you do these they should be dynamic stretches NOT static,

I wish you luck. Just a suggestion, could you perhaps be kinder to yourself and come up with a less negative name?

A decent pair of running shoes, always warm up before exercising, I always limber up indoors then do a 5 min walk.

Always run slow & steady just above walking pace and always stretch the legs afterwards. You'll probably get a few minor aches n pains as your body gets used to the new thing going on, therefore I can't emphasise enough about running slow and steady, as a lot of newbies tend to go off too fast get fatigued quickly and end up not completing the run or programme come to that, or end up on the injury couch injured. The programmes not about speed or distance just the time...

The names amusing! You could change it to fitb when you've graduated!😁

Good luck!
