Graduation!

Hi all,

I have today completed Couch 2 5k! Wow. 9 weeks, 27 runs - think I am still in shock! I have downloaded MapMyRun so that I can continue on my journey. 3 runs per week is feeling a lot to fit in right now but I'm determined to continue. Any tips on keeping going would be gratefully received!

I have loved reading all the different posts along the way - really helps.

Many congrats - What you have achieved in 9 weeks will hopefully stay with you for life and spur you on - If you find three runs a week too difficult to fit in then just run when you can but make sure you get plenty of rest in between

Well done you

Firstly, well done and congratulations.

In terms of what to do from here, the truth is that we are all different. Some are more than happy just to continue to run 2 or 3 times a week with no particular goal, some want to run marathons and most are somewhere in between.

One thing that is quite apparent is that many people miss the 'structure' of a program when they graduate and lose motivation. Likewise some need a goal or target to work towards.

Do you have any idea, at this stage, of what you might want to do?

Thanks for the replies!

Dunder, I was just trying to get this far so haven't really thought but don't want to lose momentum which looks possible. I haven't got the time to invest in longer distances and definitely want to improve my times over the 5k in the short term so that is my initial goal. Like the idea of setting goals to work towards.

Are you free on Saturday mornings and do you have a Parkrun locally?

That in addition to continuing with one or two comfortably paced runs over 30 minutes or 5K each week would be good to continue with your progress.

There are also the C25K+ podcasts. These help lots of people and focus on cadence (the number of steps per minute) to help build speed and stamina.

Congratulations!

The 6 week Quests here are great (look out for pinned posts - there will be a new one starting next week which seems like perfect timing for you)

*You* decide what your goals are for these... you'll see how varied these are from person to person.
