If you know you have foot issues and are an under-pronator it is probably worth going to your local running shop for gait analysis.
Your long walks will mean you have a base of aerobic fitness which bodes well but yes, you need to be careful with those legs and feet.
Make sure you get good shoes and a gait analysis - it's really worth doing. And follow the plan faithfully. I did week 1 twice plus two days because I didn't feel ready but since then have enjoyed movin in to the next challenge. But listen to your body. Good luck x
Make sure you've got proper shoes (get a gait analysis and advice from professionals at a running shop) and follow the programme to build you up slowly. Start slow and don't push yourself too much. Perhaps consult a sports physio if it would put your mind at rest but give it a go - you may find you have no problems at all.
I appreciate your comments, thanks.Yesterday I did a10 mile walk-run in my cheapo trainers, not good on rough ground,- l had my left foot strapped.i must get a foot analysis and descent trainers. Its great having an adrenalin fix, ishall start 2nd week still on the 1st stage.
