Off I went to Erddig this morning, all the way worrying about being late as the Car took more de-icing than I though - frozen rain on it.... just about made it there in time, got to the start about two minutes before the hooter.
One of the great things about parkrun is that anyone can take part. One of the bad things is that if you've got fragile self-cofidence, having a 12 year old speeding on ahead of you after doing an 11 minute first mile doesn't do a lot for it.... the point is though, especially for the likes of me, to think about how six months or so ago this wasn't even possible!
A bit slippy on some of the paths, a couple of walk breaks after about 25 minutes, and then the last steep part of the hill - someday I will run up it, honest.... but I got in well under my previous PB of 39:47; when the email arrived, it confirmed a time of 38:02! And having seen the state of the walking trousers, I think I'm just going to bite the bullet and get some running tights for next time - OH will just have to put up with it.... after all, I'm a runner now!

Great stuff! Good for you for turning out on a cold morning when you could have had a lie in 😀
You deffo need tights! I have just ordered a pair of Saucony omni winter tights which have back pocket, zip ankle and a cord tie waist - my three must-haves 😀 They do them for men too!
I have lots of pairs now as they do get mucky quickly, especially on the trail
To be fair I don't live that close either, it's a half hour drive to get there, but there's nothing closer - it's either there, Shrewsbury or Delamere, and Erddig shades it.... You'd have thought there'd be one somewhere in Crewe or Nantwich, but no! I'm not about to try and set one up in Whitchurch, if nothing else the local park just isn't big enough - you'd probably have to do several laps of it....
Nice run! Forget anyone faster except those very slightly ahead who you might , just possibly overtake😀 When you do, as my son tells me - leave the passed behind😉
I thought about you yesterday when a young guy ran passed me, he was wearing running tights with lightweight shorts over them. If he can, you can Albert, go for it!
Exactly! It's not about who passes you, nor who you pass - it's about being there, when you know that until recently running and park run would have been the last thing on your mind.
