New Year run - W7r3 (very nearly!)

Mr Rainbow is continuing to organise my running for me, it seems! Having slept through the entire morning, I had a nice lunch then took the dogs for a lovely, if muddy, walk with my friend. Got back expecting that wed then be going outfit so the jobs we need to get done today, only to be told hat I needed to go running otherwise i wouldn't have daylight for it. Ah.

So upstairs I went, got changed, collected Miss Rainbow, and off we went. The walk was fine - it's a perfect day here, and absolutely lovely for walking as long as you keep out of the fields. Then the running started. The first couple of minutes on the level were fine, and even the first minute up the hill out of the village was ok - but then it just went on too long, and I walked the last 30 seconds or so up to the top of the hill.

As soon as I got to the more level bit I picked up the running again, and got into some sort of rhythm, but it was mentally tough. After the next four minutes I wanted to stop, but decided I had to keep going to five minutes. From there I set myself the target of getting to halfway, and from halfway I knew I could keep going.

All in all, it was a good run. I'm not particularly fussed about the short walk, as I know I can get up that hill normally if I haven't just walked a few muddy miles first! But I'll do one more week 7 run before moving on, just to prove to myself I really can do this! :) Onward and upward (or something!)

Oh, and for all that I though that I was going as slowly as I could manage, it turns out this was my fastest run in *ages*! D'oh.

Ooh well done , sometimes it's the just get out there that is important . Sounds like you had a good run and proving to yourself you defiantly can do it ! :-)

Well done! It's funny how we set ourselves targets - I'll just get to this point or that lamppost or half way!! And the speed we think we're going never ever relates to what we have actually run! :)

And even when we know it's only a temporary measure and we're going to keep going after the target, it's still helpful to set it. Please tell me that's not just me! ;)
