I am 50 in 2018 and I have decided to lose 50llb by then which is in May 2018. To do this safely and hopefully with some ease I am starting it on January 1st. I need to get fit, currently can't run 100yards and as my children both run I would love to surprise them one day and be able to run with them. My niece also gets married in 2018 and we are celebrating my birthday by going in a special trip. I want to be in the photos for both the wedding and the holiday. I want to live longer and be healthy. Lots of reasons why I want to do all this.....just need to try hard now

My reasons and aims
Welcome to the first step of your 2017 plans! This is a great programme & forum I'm reaching my next decade😂60 in July!! Only a number as feeling so much better since I started c25k in august & so far lost just over 1stone!! It's so exciting when you start out & the benefits are so worth the hard work great advise & inspiration here so go... go ... 🏃🏃good luck & will be watching your progress.. you'll love it!!😊😊😊
Hello. Welcome to c25k 🙂 I can identify with your aims. I lost about 63 pounds with healthy eating and getting more active, and staying active.
Since starting to run with the programme I lost another stone. You have to keep up the momentum by continuing to eat healthily and by just generally moving more.
I had my neice's wedding to get slim for and I did it. I can recall posting a pic on here. You feel fabulous with the new you and won't want to go back 😀
Make a start! Don't delay! I still go to my WW class most weeks and run every other day. Walking instead of taking the car is a good start.
Many congrats on your weight loss, that's fantastic. I am going to start looking at my food intake today. I worked most of Christmas and sadly am now making up for it! I shall have a nice long walk with my dog today. It is all about keeping it up indeed and I so want to do it and also not to be part of a statistic of being obese.
Welcome and good luck! It's sensible to take the long view and have a goal in mind. Just follow the c25k plan, take it slow and steady and I am sure you'll do really well. You'll find loads of support here. Have you downloaded the podcasts?
Hello and welcome! I hope you keep motivated to reach your goals. You will find lots of support and inspiration here. Check out the NHS Weight Loss forum too. Lots of us are on both and following the NHS 12 week plan. It works. I've lost 7kgs since mid-September. Good luck for 2017.
A brilliant aim and the perfect program to accomplish it. Heaps of people on here at all the different stages, all just waiting to cheer you on. This was the best thing I have ever done for myself. The benefits are far more than just physical. You will be amazed at what you really are capable of. Looking forward to hearing how it goes
These sound like wonderful reasons and aims to me! Welcome to our virtual family of Runners and good luck with your running and weight loss. Take it slow and steady and try to enjoy it and have fun. 👏🏻👏🏻😊
I cant think of better reasons to start than all those you've listed here... huge well done, I think that all sounds very doable. Keep posting here so we can all support you
You have come to the right place... welcome... The programme will help..do it, slowly, steadily and enjoy... health eating combined with this can work as our lovely misswobble says.
Juts take it in your own time, make sure you take the rest days and do not push too hard too soon.
You have got a lot to get in trim for..how wonderful! So many lovely things happening!
Keep posting..you will find us a very friendly bunch, and so much good advice and support will come your way when you post!
January 1st...the best day to start becoming the person you want to be
Thank you for your advice, I will take the rest days indeed. I normally try and go full in and then fall down because i am too tired and too hungry and hence I have gone to lose the weight and get fit in a time frame of longer than 1llb a week so I don't get disheartened if it doesn't happen one week. I do want to surprise my girls though, they will love it!
The trick is, and it is not always easy.. to take it slow and steady.
You will hear that so much from the folk on here. We all have our own pace. because of age, fitness levels etc, but it really is the only way. I started at 65, and could barely run for the 60 seconds.. a year later, am up to 10K.. there is no way I would have achieved that without the steady, slow approach!
I an the original Grey Snail... only changed to a yellow stripey snail this year
Some of our really super runners, who achieve terrific things will advocate the same approach.
You have such an incentive and we will support you right the way through this
Great goals
Before you start, write down all your current measurements. But don't look at them until you at least finish the C25K. People don't always immediately lose weight through the programme (you will, if combined with healthy eating!) but your shape definitely will change & the tape measure doesnt lie!
Enjoy the podcasts & the whole new you!
