Hi there guys/gals,

I just wanted to update all you lovely helpful people with my situation at the moment...

Since my graduation at the end of November I have only managed to get out and complete two runs, and I am pleased to say that the first of those was a 5k run. So, I achieved my original objective of finishing C25K and complete a 5k run. I was absolutely well and truly knackered at the very end of that first post-graduation run, but I did complete it without stopping so I was really chuffed. :)

My last run though, which was over a week ago now (and only around 3.8k) was a real struggle, as I had picked up a niggling pain in my right foot, which I had hoped I could shake off, but running on it has only appeared to make things worse. In fact, every day of the past week when I get up out of bed (after a good full 6 to 8 hour rest), I can hardly put any weight on it at first. It does ease off 'a tad' after walking on it for a while, and I am able to walk on it for the rest of the day. However, it remains a dull ache (like when you bump a bad bruise) for the rest of the day until I get out of bed the following day and it hasn't improved at all. If anything, it seems worse then until I start to walk around a bit to loosen it up. :'(

I need to find time to get it checked out by my GP, and that's what I intend to do tomorrow. I really hope it's not permanent damage, as I am finally expecting to take delivery of my new treadmill on Tuesday and was hoping to always get a few runs a week in then, regardless of the weather outside or not having enough time to get out.

Ouch! That niggle doesn't sound right. But good that you're going to get it sorted and take delivery of your new mill. Well done on your two runs! Great news! Was just about to send out the search party, and you posted just in time! Happy running, buddie πŸ˜€πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ˜€

When my husband developed plantar fascitis from running his symptoms were very similar to you are describing. GP referred him to a podiatrist and insoles & exercises sorted it out. Hope you get it sorted. You are right not to run again until you have had it assessed.

Thanks! :)

(It's not plantar fasciitis btw).

Hi there, treacle legs :) I wondered where you had got to :)

This foot thing...not good. But, you are going to get it checked out, so maybe you will then have an idea of what is going on.

I really hope it sorts, and the treadmill could be really useful for you...low impact and steady progress. Keep us posted Lee x

Hi Lee, great to hear from you, was wondering how you were doing!

Get the foot sorted and then give that treadmill a lesson on running!

Happy Christmas and happy running!

Roll a bottle of iced water under your foot or a tennis/golf ball. I hope you get it sorted soon.

Glad to hear that you're still in the land of the living - not so good to hear you have an injury. Take things easy and get it checked by a Dr - hopefully it'll just be something that will clear up soon.

Great news on the 5k milestone - well done!!

Keep us posted

I had plantar fasciitis , got it from walking with flat shoes. Not from running. However it was months of pain. Hope it isn't that. However, although the spur will always be there, stretching helps no end and I restarted the program slowly and back to running about 5 k. Stretching was the key, specific for under the foot, also tennis ball and ice (frozen water bottle rolled under foot) Also got some supportive insoles that help the arch ( High arch) Good luck!!
