I registered quite a number of weeks before I worked up courage to go and give it a shot.

In fact, the week before I did it, I even went so far as to go down to the park on my bike and ask the organisers if I could please follow the runners round on my bike just to see what the course was like! They were happy to let me do that, and it helped me the following week just to feel that I was setting off "informed" about what was coming rather than running out into the unknown.

If you go on your local PR webpage you will find a map of the course. I then walked the course a few weeks before I actually ran PR. It was helpful as there were no surprises, including accepting all the hills and I therefore felt more relaxed on my first proper Parkrun.

I'm nervous too, but great support from the wonderful people on here has made me feel I can give it a go. I ran (shuffled) the Parkrun course a few weeks ago and managed the 5k and I'm off to do it again this afternoon. Then hopefully, if this goes ok, I'm going to register! A few of us have got our Santa hats ready for the Christmas Eve parkrun - come and give it a try!
