The day of my run... the day after my run... I'm insatiable.

I know the rhetoric... make healthy choices - but you can even have too much of the healthy stuff, I think.

How do you deal with the hunger that's been inspired by your new running lifestyle?

If it's any consolation, I felt the same. The great runners on here will help you out. I think our bodies get dehydrated and require water rather than food, but our brains mistake the feeling as hunger rather than thirst. After a few weeks I didn't feel hungry after a run. I now just drink lots of water. Happy running πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»πŸƒπŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸƒπŸ»πŸ˜€

Thanks, Flossie - it is consolation! lol I already drink loads of water - averaging out about 120-140 ounces in a day, so.... I'm sure half of it is mental....

My answer to this was always to run before breakfast, so that afterwards I could... eat breakfast!

As for the day after the run, I'm not sure what to suggest. Maybe go for a swim before breakfast? :)

I always run before breakfast - isn't that funny, I never thought of going for a swim before breakfast... hmmmm.... thx!

Ah, can't really help with that one I'm afraid. A good run always has the opposite effect with me - makes me want to eat less! Strange the effect these things have on our bodies.

Ully!! Chance would be a fine thing.

It is strange - you're not wrong!

It seems perverse to me to go to the trouble of completing c25k, presumably for the purpose of improving your health and wellbeing, only to find you are piling on the pounds from over rewarding yourself for running a short distance 😊

You can't overdo the healthy stuff!

if you eat a good breakfast and then run your c25k session you don't need anything else till lunch time. if you are starving then it's your breakfast you need to focus on - if you are running in the morning that is. Eating and running are a marriage made in heaven but eat good stuff please, I beg you ☺ Healthy food is not boring unless you make it so. I make my own running bars, which are flippin yummy 😊 I like a healthy hot pot, chilli or curry after a long run. No need to eat just lettuce! πŸ˜ƒ

I am evangelical on this subject as everyone knows 😊 I was a lard arse before C25k you see

Thanks, miss!! Excellent reminders. I suppose you can't really overdo the healthy stuff - but I do make me worry at times... lol

I'm not saying I'm piling on the pounds... my weight has stayed pretty much the same though for the last 2 months.... (and it's about 45 pounds more than my body needs) and I'm not saying I'm not eating healthy - I just feel like I'm hungry All The Time. Breakfast is usually a sugar-free whole grain cereal with fruit, or an egg. I'm experimenting with a lunch of homemade Super Salad (that includes tuna, egg & avocado) in hopes that it'll stave off the hunger between lunch and dinner... Dinner is usually fish or meat sub, veggies, grain (ie. Quinoa or Bulgar), cottage cheese (coz I love it), and then plain pot-popped popcorn with olive oil.... as a snack (because i'm hungry ALL The Time!! lol)

The Running Bars sound interesting.... :-)

I thought about your eats while I was out running yesters ☺ There are some calorie meagre snacks that are healthy and would fit the bill if you are gnawing hungry and your next meal is sometime away. Sugar-free jelly! Fruit of your choice in the bottom of 4 sundae dishes, I drain the juice/syrup if using tinned Fruit and use water but that's's up to you ☺ I often use lidl frozen berries for these. once set you can top your fruity jelly with a thin covering of evap yog etc, few chopped nuts etc, or eat just the fruit and SF jelly which is guilt free 😊

Home made veg soup is also a brill stand-by, which can be portioned out and frozen for times when you feel snacky. if you eat enough protein etc you shouldn't feel hungry between meals so make sure you get enough good grub at meal times.

Running regularly is good for your metabolism and you keep burning calories post run, which is a boon 😊 It makes you want to clean up your diet I think as you want to get better at it, and running without the burden of extra pounds does make lighter work of it. I lost 3 st 7 lbs before starting to run and then have lost another stone since running regularly, and have maintained my weight for 6 years. I love my food but I keep it healthy these days ☺

Oh well done ! Just eating my sugar free berry combo as i type 😊 Grated one piece of dark choc over it with some flaked almonds ☺

I make various energy bars. I make some vegan ones from the Sea salt with food website 😊 I do the raw choc espresso ones and the recipe makes loads, which get wrapped and frozen individually. these are sugar free, where you use dates for sweetness

Oh I forgot to say! The SF jelly and fruit is good with a tub of cottage cheese whizzed up in it. Makes 5 dishfuls then! You don't know the cottage cheese is in there as it's blitzed and folks think it's whipped cream or sommat decadent! I really don't like cottage cheese at all but it's great in disguise. You just make up the jelly as per usual. You can add a bit less water but it does set if you use a pint, just takes a bit longer

I made vegan peanut butter bars last night! 😊 I tried one post 8k run and it was lovely. very moist from the home made apple sauce. I put some very dark choc in, broke it into chunks. all individually wrapped now and in the freezer in a box to keep my old man off em 😯

Enjoy 😊 I made the apple sauce by peeling, coring and slicing some eating apples. a cooking apple would do just as well. you just cook them down in the micro for a few mins, til they break down and there are no hard bits left
