Please can anyone give me some advice? Iam now on week 9 and for the last couple of runs my ankles have been so painful. I have had to stop on a few occasions as they hurt a lot.
Iam not sure why or what to do about it, has anyone else had the same? I really don't want to have to stop running because of this, Iam so disappointed and worried.

Yes I have had this in the past and it seemed to be connected to trying to go too fast too soon. I could barely walk for a few weeks so had to stop running completely. Like you I was so disappointed. It took me ages to build up the confidence to try running again. When I did a combination of good running shoes and ankle strengthening exercises have worked. I have tried not too push too hard too soon and to take it slow and steady. Listen to the messages your body is giving you or you will end up on the injury couch for longer. Hope this helps.
Thank you for your advice. It's just strange how it has only really come on in week 8/9 maybe Iam trying too hard and pushing myself. I will find some ankle strengthening exercises like you suggest to help me, I really don't want to have to give up running, I have come so far.
I had ankle issues when I started running and as Kmcm66 says, good shoes and exercises are the key, and not trying to do too much. Also if really painful I took ibuprofen to reduce inflammation, and got some of these babies to put on straight after a run:
Thank you for all your advice. I could barely walk this morning when I got up, my ankles were so stiff, they eased up as the morning went on. I will be purchasing the socks and ankle support to help me, and I have found some ankle strengthening exercises online to try. I really hope they help, it's so hard to run when my ankles are so painful
Agree with above about good trainers but you also need to think about your footwear the rest of the time. I had problems with my ankles but it wasnt caused by my running but my choice of footwear the rest of the time. i have since got rid of the offending boots and ankle problem gone.
