W5 R2....in the dark

Progress update.

So tonight I got W5 R2 after Saturday's 'practice' run. Feeling quite pleased as it took more times than this to get the 3x5 for Week 4.

I took the most boring straight line 'out and back' route ever in my local park, so I was going up a gentle incline then down again. I went at 6.40 - big mistake - pitch dark by 7pm and I felt a little vulnerable. Then I remembered one of you guys saying they went out running in the dark all in black with dark glasses on and I found myself giggling.

So the second 8 minute went by ok (I even felt that I had developed a rhythm) but I'm really not sure about the 16mins straight. I'm going to guess that's going to take me some time to be able to do but you know what, I am going to try.......

Well done. As everyone says take it slow . As you say it took longer to get to previous stage and should start to get easier.

Always remember that you have come a long way from the couch even if you do a practice run. It's all good !

Good luck with the next run. Take it slowly and do your best. You will get there in the end and it will be far more satisfying than if it was easy! :-)

You are doing so well Sofargoner . Your determination and humour comes out in every word. You're going to get there and in your own way and your own time. I love your updates. You just keep on keeping on, we're all right behind you :)

Thanks McFitty I must admit I think about your large garden quite often and you circling it. How's it going out on public trails? ::::::thinks Shawshank Redemption moment emerging from the tunnel!::::::::::

Just got back from a couple of weeks in Dorset and I ran on a real beach and it was awesome! Haven't run in the garden since graduation (the garden isn't big I just ran in very small circles)!😂

I admire your tenacity sfg. I mean that. Keep on going strong, as you have been. It's good to see people not quitting when it would be the easy way out - gives us all following your journey a bit more determination in a tight spot than we might have otherwise. 🤒

thanks IrishJohn - you will see I have had success today, without all the struggles of Week 4, which took me those two weeks to do, this means that Week 5 only took me one week, amazed at myself. My running friend told me stamina grows on a curve, so it does get easier with time. I didnt know that. Off to look at some info on that now.
