Hi, I am new here and starting my first run tonight. Hope I will enjoy it. Current weight is 81.9 kilos, which is classed as obese as I am only 1.61m tall. Hopefully I will loose a few pounds over the next few weeks, aswell as getting a little bit fitter. I will keep updates about my progress
New here. Starting out today: Hi, I am new here... - Couch to 5K
New here. Starting out today
Good luck with your first run. Getting started is the hardest part so well done for doing this. The forum is a fantastic place for advice and support. The best bit of advice I read when I started was if it is tough slow down then slow down some more - it really helps to make it more manageable. Hope you enjoy your run
Welcome! I'm new on here, too, and I'm roughly the same measurements. I had a wake up call when my doctor told me I'm borderline diabetic a few months ago. I completed w2r2 today, and although it's challenging, I am already totally hooked. Everyone on here says follow the plan exactly and go slow, slow, slow, and you'll be surprised at what you'll be able to achieve. At our level I think it's natural to be a bit sore, but I've been able to go out after a rest day. Good luck, and keep updating, I'll be cheering you on! 😊 x
Welcome aboard and Well done for making the decision to start !
Good Luck , slow and steady is the way, its just a gentle jog .
Please keep posting, we will support you along your journey xxx
You've come to the right place for all the support and help you need. Good luck and keep posting how you are doing.
Well done deciding to start. Keep it slow and steady and you will be amazed what you can do!
Good luck!
I'm on week 6 and find this forum really helpful and supportive. I am sure you will get hooked. I never ran I my life before and really like this programme and know I've made progress. If I can you will definitely do so too.
The first run is THE hardest. Most of us had no confidence in ourselves and it seemed impossible that we would ever stick the course and become runners ☺
I honestly did not imagine I would ever get through to week three even - all sorts of physical reasons seemed to preclude it.
Read as many posts on the Forum as you can and you will see you are not "terminally unique", trust the programme, take it slow and steady and you will graduate 😊
I hope you stay and run with us, we are all in this together ☺
Good for you. Wishing you well. Lots of advice on this forum for running and nutrition. There are many people who have taken the same journey you are starting so ask if you need support or help. Hope it is not too hot where you are running!
well done for starting. i began the plan last october and have lost over 4 stone, and i feel a lot healthier. We are all rooting for you stick with it , good luck
Welcome!! The C25k programme is simply amazing, following it will change your life and be one of the best decisions you'll ever make.
Top advice is go slow! Slow down until you feel like you can't possibly slow down any more and then slow down again! Take extra rest days (always at least one rest day between runs) if you need to and if you don't manage all the running intervals then try that run again next time. Stretch, listen to Laura, GO SLOWLY, take your rest days and before you know it you'll be running for 30 minutes!
This forum is full of incredible, inspirational people so do use it for advice, encouragement and to let us celebrate your successes with you.
Go for it. Take it easy, take it at your own pace and enjoy it
