I'm not a night worker but I can understand your dilemma. Is your job very physical? Lots of people run after work before they settle down for the night, that would be equivalent to your 8am, if you feel you have enough energy, I would make sure you have a good snack or meal in your last break at work, something quite balanced with carb and protein. Or the other alternative is treat your wake up run like an early morning run, have a breakfast and out the door and come back to start your day after that.
We all have a preference to early morning exercise or later in the day. Our body clocks are wired to a favourite exercise time. I would try both and see which one suits you best.
Good luck and let us knowhow you get on.
hello! I used to work nights )19.45 - 08.00) but rarely got to finish on time. I would walk to and from work (30 - 40mins) then after my last night shift I would go to the gym and either take it easy or really go for it. I'd make sure that at about 7ish I'd have a glass of milk and a banana or something to make sure I had a bit of energy to keep me going. I haven't tried running after nights but I assume its similar?
