I wore shorts in public and no one died!

On Saturday to parkrun I wore shorts as it was going to be warm. No one threw up, commented, laughed or expired at the sight of my not pretty white legs. In the past I was worried what people would think. My first C25k runs were on back roads in the dark to avoid people seeing me. I wore black leggings and dull t shirts. Now, while not exactly confident, I realise no one could care less!

For anyone concerned what they look like: too fat, too old, too slow, too red in the face, do not worry. As many have said here before, the fact that you're out there trying to improve your health and fitness is reason enough to be proud not embarrassed. In the words of the adverts: Just Do It!

Good for you! We do worry too much don't we? Have not yet with shirts but always run in tight lycra and getting over being seen in it. Helps that everything is getting toned up and a bit less wobbly. 😄

Very well said. Although I still haven't plucked up the courage to get my thighs out - all summer I have been in my 2xu running tights :-/

A photo of the shorts without me in them may deserve flattery but I'm definitely not brave enough for a photo of my legs!

Very well done! I live in a small community, and dreaded people seeing me attempting to run at first. Then as friend started commenting that they'd seen me at some point, I stopped worrying so much - and no one has ever said anything at all mocking or negative. Now, even though I've put weight on due to not running and eating badly for too long, I go out there, unashamed, in my Lycra capris and top. At least I'm trying to do something about it...! ;)

Haha the title of your post made me giggle! What a great attitude. It's true, the self consciousness just disappears when the pride takes over, doesn't it! :)
