Hi there although I have been in here a while not posted, and decided to start today. Just wondering, if anyone when they first start, could do the walk, but when it came to the running the 60 seconds, had to stop and walk, which I found, was proud of myself, didn't quit, and just got in having finished it.

Well done. The first week is so hard! It took me several goes to achieve week 1 run1 as I found the 8 one minute runs too much. I started with doing four and walking through the others and built up to doing all eight. I think I was going too fast. It really is a slow jog. Good luck with the programme. It does work - yesterday I ran for 28 minutes which would have been a dream in March when I started. I had a long break on the injury couch when I got to week 5 and then started over again but slow and steady wins the race...

Well done Alicat👍! You have already done the hardest part - getting started🏃🏃🏃. Many struggle through the first weeks, but just keep going!

Hi and welcome :)

I think when I started, I nearly collapsed! Lots of folk feel like you and cannot imagine ever, ever, ever, running for 30 minutes... but they do! :)

You have as PippiRuns says, made the hardest step.. starting. Now you just carry on in your own time, following the excellent programme.

The support on here is amazing and you will get tips, sympathy, a gentle shove :) and lots of helpful comments.

Keep posting and remember, the mantra is, slow and steady :)

As others have said remember to go slow and then slower. That way you are much more likely to achieve all the runs. Most of us found the first ones particularly hard and many repeated runs till we achieved them. Keep going. You will get there if you slow down.

Well done you 😀 I thought I was going to die week one and now at week 6 I can laugh at that...I had to do some walks when I was meant to be running but just keep going - you should feel proud of yourself - congratulations

Best thing? You started. Second best thing (very close second) you're on the forum. The programme will give you the tools and the forum will give you the encouragement. Don't ever think you're alone in how you feel (physically, mentally or emotionally). You've just completed the hardest run. The first one. And like so many others have said and will say... You can do it, slowly (honestly, please go really slowly) and steadily and we're all here just willing you on :)

I'm up to running 25 minutes continuous now. I look at my W1 AND W2 struggles and wonder if I am mentally incompetent or something because they were so hard it was unreal (outlined in earlier posts of mine :) )

Now I am withing a handful of runs to 'Graduate' - and it seems so unbelievable that I could have had so much trouble with those early weeks - well, it just doesn't make sense now does it ! LOL

The truth being - the PROGRAMME WORKS! :) It does the 'impossible' if we trust it. You DO NOT have to do it 'perfectly' - it is about progress, not perfection. Most of us have had to - and still might have to - repeat several stages before we moved on to the next. I would bet ALL of us - because what on earth did we even start HERE otherwise - were 'Losers' when it came to running before we took this C25K up. ALL of us 'never thought' we would have so much fun, enjoyment, personal satisfaction, sense of achievement etc let alone believed that some day we would run for thirty minutes straight.

It's not as 'easy' as we might wish sometimes - but it is ALWAYS doable.

I hope you stay and run with us - we are all in this together because of where we started from :)

Not what you're looking for?
