Morning all. Have been struggling with a particular run which last night, on the 8th (count them , 7 other attempts!) I completed. I know that others have experienced similar "why on EARTH is this on so difficult? " situations, so I thought I'd share this. I didn't use the c25k app. Instead, I decided that I'd use Runkeeper. I set it to km. I knew I needed to run for 20 mins which , at my usual pace is about 3km. So I just kept running til it said "you have run 3km". I don't know why but not focusing on time seemed to do the trick. I know it's against all the laws of everything but it worked. Thoughts dear runners? Am I to be chased with pitchforks and burning torches?
Forgive me if this is sacrilege. ..: Morning all... - Couch to 5K

If it works, don't knock it. Great perseverance, there. It will get you far.
You obviously needed to do something different to bust yourself out of a mindset that wasn't getting you anywhere. Although, surprise, surprise, you give away a little clue - you are setting yourself a faster pace than you can sustain for your ultimate goal, so.... slowly, slowly catchy monkey!
I know. However, I actually can't run any slower without tripping over my own feet. I'm quite tall. Does that make any difference?
I'm not sure that height makes any difference in and of itself - but I know that quite often if I try and run too artificially slowly that seems to be just as tiring as running too quickly! And one of my daughters simply can't run with me at all as I'm far too slow and it really hurts her.
Well done, it sounds like it was a good idea to try to mix things up a bit. You can now move on and put that run behind you
