'So where have my feet carried me? My feet have carried me to a place far bigger than I. A place that forced me to look inward and appreciate what I had. May your feet carry you there too.' They already have. I started running because walking just wasn't cutting it anymore.

This is lovely, thanks for sharing this Bazza. My favourite quote about running is
"I run because I can. When I get tired I remember those who can't run, what they would give to have this simple gift I take for granted, and I run harder for them. I know they would do the same for me." It gets me going every time.

Lovely Bazza - thanks for posting this. I started running again at 49 because I looked at my children one day and knew I should be taking more care of myself if I wanted to be around for them in the future. My own father died from cancer at the age of 52 - we lost him just 6 months after diagnosis. My heart broke. Not there at my wedding, never met the special people who are now my life. Running had been a way of managing stress when I was younger, so it made sense to run again. Nobody knows what's around the corner but we can all increase our chances of a healthy future by looking after ourselves that little bit more.

I also run for health and because walking was no longer enough. In younger days I never ran consistently but often would run off my frustration - or run away from horrible thoughts. And fast walking was just part of me, I walk everywhere! But you get further when you run and you can always push yourself that bit harder if you want. I run because I can and that is a blessing!
