First day on CT5K

I'm new here...

Hi everybody. I have just come back about half an hour ago from my first walk/jog/run. I was quite out of breath as i'm really unfit. When the app says run, how do you guys define, run?

Ha! I define it as a jog, it was often a slow shuffle though and still is on the hills at times. Don't worry about speed. Most here call themselves slow.

Welcome. Do the running bits as slow as possible. At this stage completion is the name of the game. Once you've finished the program and can run for 30 minutes you can work on speed. Well done for getting that first run finished.

Hi & welcome. What most of us call "running" is a really, really slow shuffle forwards.

Slow & steady wins the race :)

C25K is really just about gradually building up stamina, rather than learning how to sprint.

Most of us started this off being really unfit, so it is a bit of a shock to the system. :)

Jog, very, very slowly. Slow is good for C25k as it's all you need to do. The idea is to finish. Finishing is everything

Forget speed, time, pace, distance blah blah and just put one foot in front of the other. The podcast tells you what to do and when so it really is a no-brainer. It's the best thing sliced bread though, and if you combine the programme with healthy eating, you won't know yourself soon

Good luck and stick with it!

Okay... put down the beer.. move away from the beer...:)

Follow the programme, start to finish... and slowly!!!!!

You will be reminded constantly, slow and steady.. the reason being, the programme takes you right through, building up stamina.. forget everything else, as our lovely misswobble says.

With the right attitude..( put that beer down) and the correct eating regime, you could see amazing changes. Up to you... do you want to do this...?

If you start, we are warning you, you will get addicted...and it is brilliant!!!!!!!!!!

Remember, as Confucius said, " It does not matter how slowly you go, as long as you do not stop.." :)

Or find your local Hash House Harriers and pick the beer up (after the run). :)

Mmm nice.. come run in front of me.. I'm sure the veiw will help me keep up.. ( blushes)

No in all seriousness.. well done on your first run.. that's the toughest one out of the way... keep it also and you will be fine.. your pace will get there when it can.. I have graduated a couple of weeks ago and still average only 10 minutes per k .. So I'm a snail :)

But a very determined one )p

Good luck with the programme :)

Slow* not also

Slow slow slow and then slow down more.. For me it's a very slow jog but definitely a different movement from walking! Well done on starting. Week one is hard - the first time I did it I had to build up the number of runs to get to 8 it was so hard! Best of luck!

So long as both feet are off the ground, it doesn't matter how slow. Welcome to the gang! Great decision to get started.

My runs are around the same speed as my walks.

Careful though, don't spill your beer :-)

If you could log your walk / runs and you'll see where you started the intervals where you run and this will give you a good idea of your perceived effort. You still want to be able to hold a conversation during your "run" interval as a general rule.

Oh btw welcome
