Trying to decide if I go for a solo run of more than 5k (training for half marathon) or a park run to get a time and run with people.

Can you do both? Parkrun, get scanned & then keep going for the longer distance??

What do you fancy?

I am building distances up, but on my own.. that is how I think I prefer it.. up to about 7.5 K at the moment; but am thinking, maybe I should try a Park run... just to see if I enjoy i.

I prefer my own company and my own thoughts and my own pace,( check out my rambling posts!!!!) But, we are all so different, thank goodness.

For me, it is case of " if you run your own path, there are no footsteps to follow)! :)

I have managed my 2 parkruns now but still much prefer my own company, that said they are good practice for running with other people before entering other events and Without trying I do seem to go a little bit faster In a group which is a nice confidence boost. I think I will aim to do one every 5 weeks or so as I work a rota to cover weekends. Without you lot persuading me to give it a try I probably wouldn't, and I'm pleased with the sense of achievement even if I am still more of a solo runner!

Yes give it a go, you'll never know otherwise! You might find you love it so fit your training around saturdays, or it's not for you so you run whenever suits you. Or you could do one week in 4 at PR to keep an eye on your times - it's really up to you. Personally I didn't like it much, but then I don't like parties or clubs much either! Lone wolf, that's me!

Not the first one I've done. I generally prefer being alone wolf. But it makes a change occasionally 4th time in about 2 and half years.
