Today I ventured outside !

I started the program on 2nd April and the first 3 weeks were ok   BUT then I suffered a huge mental block and convinced myself I couldn't do week 4.  I had aches and pains for no apparent reason and this huge psychological wall. So I gave myself a week off.  Today I ran outside for the first time. I read a post that motivated me to enjoy running by focusing on what was around me and there was no timer to focus on just my beautiful surroundings. I did a week 3 run again but finished with a 5 min run rather than 3 just to prove to myself that I can do it.  I'm really rather pleased with myself.  A big thank you all for your words of wisdom, the support and motivation.... I may just do this after all!

Well done you. It definitely helps to lose track that you are actually running. I love the quiet mornings and time to myself.

Good for you. It's amazing how much of a mental game this running is, but you've conquered the gremlins so well done. It's so beautiful outside at the minute, we should all make the most of it, as you have.

I think it is wise to listen to your body and if it is hurting, I agree it is sensible to let it rest a bit (but I am old and careful, lol)!

But well done on a successful week 3 run, you are all set for week 4 now!

Well done. Remember, we all have moments of self doubt and days when we hate running! I had many aches and pains while doing C25K, any new exercise will cause a little discomfort. The main thing is you got back on the programme!

It was a cold grey morning and I know that any excuse, I'll find it. I made myself go to the gym and faced w4r1 on the treadmill.... Determined not to be a slave to the timer I hung my cardi over it.... You know what's coming I'm sure! A minute in to my first 5 min run my cardi threw itself onto the treadmill. Before I knew it it had wrapped itself around my feet. To avoid breaking my nose I threw myself down onto my bottom and plopped gracefully (ahem..) onto the floor. No harm done, we all had a good laugh at my misfortune, then I got back on and finished my run..... I hadn't realised how dangerous this was going to be when I started!!
