I've completed w6r2 today, and from now on the c25k programme consists of long runs without walking breaks. So perhaps now is the time I should start finding out how fast (slowly) I am running. Or is it too soon to start focusing on speed? What is your experience?

I'd say complete the programme before worrying about speed. Once you can run consistently for 30 mins then build on that base to increase speed and distance. No need to rush, rushing often results in injury. There are the C25k+ podcasts to help increase speed and endurance. But that's just my opinion 😀
I agree with Annie. The aim of the programme is to run 30 mins, regardless of distance. It can be interesting if you like statistics, but your main priority should be just to run the time. Speed comes after graduation. If you push too fast too soon you run the risk of injury.
Dont worry about speed or your pace until you have graduated, plenty of time then to work on those.
All you need to do is to complete the timed runs usually as slowly and steadily as you need to do them .
The stats are nice to know but certainly don't get to focused on them .
It depends on how competitive with yourself you are.
It's sensible not to worry about your speed/distance as others have said.
I couldn't help myself though, I had to know from around week 6 onwards 😀

Forget speed... take it steady.. as the quotation says. "..you don't have to go fast...you just have to go"...and when you get there, then you can think about speed or distance.
I had app' statitistics from quite early on. It was just for me, it helped me to see progress- or no progress- and helped with keeping gremlins at bay. You really don't need to be concerned by it though, just run for the allocated times
Thanks for sharing your thoughts on that. I think I'll wait until after graduation. At that time I'll need new goals to pursue to stay motivated. Improving speed could be good motivation...
Exactly so. When people conflate goals it often ends up getting messy - and when you are doing the programme, completing each session is the goal.
Although I have graduated I am still some way short of achieving 5k, so this is my next goal.
Measuring speed is useful to know. However, maybe deliberately running faster than is comfortable could at this stage cause injury or even a failed run, so best to keep plodding right now. I decided to focus on distance rather than speed when I graduated and my speed has increased by accident!!
Unless you're chased by a hungry lion, speed shouldn't be a concern.
Focus on completing the programme and then, if you want, you can start working on your speed. 😉
