How do I create one? I've been using Strava and mapmyrun but I want a third opinion.

Hi Simon, I don't use google maps but as you haven't received any responses yet, may I suggest looking at gb.mapometer.com Go to the website and have a play. Shout if you get stuck.

Another vote for gb.mapometer.com, I've found it really useful for planning routes in new places
Thanks. According to gb.mapometer.com my 5k run this morning was actually more like 4.95km. In the first mile or so my GPS was really off (40-50m away at some points I reckon) but it corrected itself eventually.
Somewhat disappointing as it invalidates my first sub-24min 5k. It still would have been a PB but more like 24:15 rather than 23:54.

Hi Simon,
You can either create a route and save it using the My Maps feature - see the Menu icon - it's in the white location search box on the left hand side. Click that to find My Maps.
Alternatively, you can right click anywhere on a map and "Measure Distance" - but results won't be saved - I take a screenshot sometimes.
Hope that helps
John

I like good run guide as it shows tracks and footpaths. Google doesn't. You can toggle between satellite and footpath mode, which is dead handy. Also I like that you are represented as a little running man, so you can track where you want to go or where you've been. Easy to use too as I am a numpty
