When I first started I used goodrunguide.co.uk it has loads of extras like shoe logging to keep track of your mileage (more than one pair at a time). Their reports are good too. First month was free (trial) but that was over 2 years ago so not sure these days.
I use mapmyrun too in conjunction with - cough cough -a map, ha ha I have my local OS explorer map which shows all the bridleways, footpaths ect- I love spreading it out on the floor and planning a route whether it's for running, hiking or cycling. They're about £12 if I remember right
I use runkeeper during my run but the distance isn't always accurate, so recently I have been using mapometer website to plan a run or see how far I did.
