The quest takes six weeks. You can join any time within that six weeks.
The main aim of the quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.
I ask that you will be a graduate or about to graduate to join the quest. The main reason I ask this is that while you are doing the program your plan is very structured so I wouldn't want the quest to interfere with that.
Most popular goals are:-
To run three times a week
To slowly increase distance
To train for a specific race
To add In Stretch and strength exercises
As you can see they are personal to yourself and it's totally your own choice.
Every week I will pin a new post where all the members of the quest can talk about how things are going.
So if you wanted to join all you have to do is put
I would like to join the quest, or count me in and then I would like to. ..............
Your name will then be added to the top post and every week your name will be in the quest until the end.
At the end, only for those that would like to, we each put out longest run of the quest and it is then marked on a virtual run we are doing London to Paris

Time to get back to it. 16 weeks until my HM with my first event on the 31 Jan. I'm ready for a bit of change of focus I think, family life has been mental for the last couple of months and I can't change that but I can change my drive. I need to menatlly take a break from stress more and I've worked out a good training plan that can do that without pushing me over the edge and over doing it. My my aim for this year is to exercise to the point it elevates my stress levels but not to the point it impairs my immune system. Tall order but I think it can be done.
Happy New Year fellow questers. I've had a challenging week emotionally and am still in Ireland but have managed to get three runs done, 2X6K's and 1X16K (I think it was 16K as my Garmin wouldn't pick up a signal for 4K!)
I gave myself a break from high mileage for two weeks and when I went on my long run last week I felt fab with no aches or pains at all. I'm so proud of my body for what it can do! I am desperate to get to the gym but that will have to wait until I get home.
I'm pleased with the last week given that it has been foul weather and festive times. I got out for a run twice - once a dog walker berated me gently for being out without a coat which amused me. I do so love the kind of run where I get home and it is hard to see where my laces are through the peaty mud.
I had a swim... just half a kilometre as it was fairly busy and I'd already done several other things that day... if I overdo it that means I'm not well enough to be active for the rest of the week which seems a little pointless.
A bit surprised really to have only managed the 10,000 steps on two occasions and believe me the second time the moment my purple friend buzzed I was into bed like a puppet with cut strings!
Happy new year fellow questers ☺ thanks RFC for organising us again.
I downloaded a fresh 10k plan for a 10k race on 6th March. 3 runs a week. I completed my last plan, did my race with a PB so was well chuffed, especially as I was benched for most of the year
I have a huge blister on my heel though so feeling somewhat trepidatious 😕
I completed three runs last week (5.5, 6.5 and 5k). The last two were back to back on NYE and NYD, which was an interesting experiment for me. I've been wanting to double up to simulate a long run. It went pretty well, but I took it super easy on the second day - longer walk breaks between intervals, and no pacing.
This week the weather is going to be soooo cold, I'm not sure what I'll be able to do. At the minute I'm hoping for two runs, and one xtrain video indoors. I'm also trying to get out and walk a bit, and to complete one ten minute strength session. This could be the week I break through that mental barrier!
Having eating a somewhat huge amount Christmas week I thought I better get out there 3 times. As I was still off work I also wanted to make the most of running in daylight. Tuesday morning I therefore did a 10k along the river just because I could. Really enjoyed it. Sun was shining. Met loads of other runners too.
Thursday I thought I better keep it shorter so I did 5k using a RockMyRun 80s mix. Finally Saturday I went out for an hour despite the fact it was tipping it down. Another 5k on another favourite route.
Back at work today, so will be back to running Tuesday and Thursday evenings and Saturday morning.
Ooh. Forgot about this quest. Whoops! No matter, I've been reinvigorated by my time off work so running has been really enjoyable lately and its been easy to get my runs in. Weather has been unseasonably warm as well, but that's due to end in a couple days. The latter half of this quest will certainly be tougher than the first half.
Happy New Year, Questers! I am super pleased with myself because I ran a 5k on New Year's Eve, which was the first one since June when I injured myself. Then I ran again on NYD, a shorter run but I was out there, and again on Sunday. So I feel that I just might be back into this running malarkey
All I need to do now is lose the 5lbs I have attracted...
Happy running, everyone who can, and a swift recovery to those on the IC.
I forgot to post an update last week but never mind. I managed a lovely 5k on hogmanay morning and watched a beautiful red sun rise over the firth of forth from the east neck of fife. Next run wasn't until i got home to Edinburgh on the 3rd but it was a 10k trail run. I did a forest trail run a couple of weeks ago and just loved it so, on the back of that, I've just entered a high altitude trail 10k in Glentress Forest at the end of February!! I think this will be quite challenging because of the steepish climbs along the route so doing a bit of hill work will be a focus for the next few weeks. Several other folk from my jogscotland group have also entered including the lovely Rona aka Fitfor60 so will have plenty of encouragement and motivation between now and then
Happy New Year to you all and thank you RFC for putting up the quest again xxx
I was totally confused about what day it was over the holidays and plus my laptop died so wasn't able to track what runs I did between Christmas and New Year with my Garmin until yesterday ( sorry if that makes no sense , I have confused myself ! Ha ha )
I did a 5k run /walk home from work last Wednesday and then did Zombies , Run Mission 3 on Saturday . I didn't manage to complete the Mission as my phone was ringing whilst I was running and I went to cancel it and messed up my Zombie app so I will have to do that again - Pah ! Went to a nearby country park on New Years Day for some hill training , but it was just a swamp so came home again after a walk .
Good Luck to all fellow questers and soothing vibes to all those on the IC, another day closer to recovery xxx
Hello all, forgot to report on Monday. Over the festive season I managed the Boxing Day and New Years Day parkruns and one other run. This week I have been out running twice and also got back into my swimming and gym routine, which had stopped over Christmas. Delighted when I weighed myself at the gym that the festive 'damage' is only 0.5kg.
Just 1 for me last week - 10k in 59:28. Doing the family thing got in the way. Nice bracing walk down Southend pier and back on NYE as well though!
Trying to dodge the rain this week. Proving difficult...
Well done everyone and thanks rfc xx
UPDATE: OK, I'm an idiot! Just looked at GArmin Connect on a bigger screen. It was 2 runs last week! The week was set to start on Sunday not Monday, and its always been Monday before. That means Sunday's 5k was last week. (Making it worse for this week though!)
Ran full 6k on Sunday, really enjoyed it, then up a hill for 3.6k on Tuesday. Then today just over 30 mins for 4.3k.
Probably one of my 'most km in a week'- it's about 14.5 at the minute and this was about 14- and as yet, no shin splinty pains! May that continue!
Continuing my calf exercises and did some yoga last week, my core and abs hurt for two days after as I kept enthusiastically doing planks. Its the first time I've done it properly since I started running, and although my legs are stronger, I've definitely lost some of the balance and core strength I had when doing it regularly!
Will attempt a gentle paced 6.5k on sunday but I will make sure I take my inhaler first. Also signed up for a charity 5k sunday after next with my uni.
Do you mean on the london to Paris run? If so we are in Paris. My app for doing the graphics has gone down and I'm trying to find another one so I can finish that one and the Xmas virtual run.
