Perfect end to the week...๐Ÿ˜€

I took a few days off from running this week as my left calf was complaining a little (am still being slightly cautious following calf tear earlier in the year). Anyway, after a full on week which included starting a new job, I was off today. Had a very successful Christmas shopping trip this morning (phew!) and this afternoon a beautiful 5.7k run along the old railway line and through the woods nearby. So lovely to be out again - have been itching to run all week! How lucky we are to run, eh? Am now settling down with a cup of tea and the latest edition of 'Running Fitness'. Happy days!!โ˜•๏ธ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ˜€

  • Blimey Sandra you have had a busy week. I went Christmas shopping today too and have come to the conclusion that I hate shopping where there are lots of people! If there was no one else around it would be a nice thing to do. Good for you for getting a run done after all that effort in the shops! Sounds lovely.

  • Yep! Satisfying shop and satisfying run.Job done!๐Ÿ˜€

  • Ah, sigh. Happy days indeed! A calf tear is one serious big deal! You'll have to take care with it and not overdo it. Are you still doing some physio for it? I'm going to continue with my physio exercises as I think they help build up my legs!

Christmas shopping can be a right ruddy pantomime if you have no idea what you're looking for! I was walking around like a zombie yesterday and came home with nobbut a pack of sausages!

Running post Christmas shopping sounds like the perfect antidote. Good for you!

  • The tear was pretty horrible, (back at the end of April).Bizarrely, I did it running around a playground with children at work! I saw a wonderful physio to help me with rehab and I still use some of the exercises for strength and flexibility. I also 'love' my foam roller! When I got back to running I had to go right back to week 1.๐Ÿ˜ฎ It has was a long slow return to get where I am now, but worth it and I think the tired old calf was probably due to not giving myself enough recovery between runs ( 2 day breaks suit my legs better I find).

I did exactly the same when I tried to Christmas shop a couple of weeks ago - completely overwhelmed by what to get for everyone, so bought nothing!! Have done most of it now however!๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ˜€

    Take care!

  • That's 8 presents in one - give everyone a sausage for Christmas. Job done!

  • Yes two day breaks is what I did and still do to a large extent. If mine feels inflamed I get the foam roller out. I roll the outside of my leg and not the shin itself. I got my shin splint back in May and have only just got back to running again. Long painful road back to recovery isn't it

  • If it's any help, my sister had problems with shin splints a couple of years ago and went through exactly the same as you. She now seems pretty much free from any probem with them and having done a fair few half marathons is hoping to do her first marathon next year ( yes, I frequently bow down to her!)๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป

  • Brilliant Sandra !

A trio of successes , Well done to you . Im normally fit for nothing after Christmas shopping, but a run is a great way to let off steam after it isnt it ? :-) xxx

  • Sure is poppy!

  • Tee hee. Sausage Christmas! Folks could do a lot worse โ˜บ
