My better half needs some hints for Christmas from me. I quite fancy a good head torch for running - mainly off road. Any recommendations please.

Hope this helps.. Just seen it in men's running magazine..

LED Lenser SEO5

RRP: £34.95

With 100-meter reach, 10 hours of burn time and powerful Cree LED illumination, the Lenser SE05 provides all you need for a headtorch fit for the trail, without breaking the bank. Smart Light Technology settings also offer powerful, practical and safe light options for different situations.

Yep. This. They're fab. (Don't take it to the woods if you know it needs charging though. Bramble scars to remind me!)

Silva trail runner 2, light and brilliant Rays. No tripping over feet, running through dog poo, or getting run over. Didn't even notice it on my head. Amazing.

Alpkit Gamma. has red light and battery back at the back of head so traffic can see you from behind (important this). Mega beam and angles up down etc. Lasted me all last winter on one battery change. Has lit my way through forests, been subemerged in mud and streams and generally bashed about and mistreated (it is worn on my head after all) and is as good as the day i got it. I was going to get the £130 Petzl one but at the last minute boutght the Alpkit for £17 and was best decision I could have made.

I also bought this one on Rig's recommendation and whilst I've not used it as much as I'd like, it is excellent value for money. It is just as good as the one my hubby has that was more than double the price.

Me too. Rig should buy shares! The torch works, though I can't compare with any others. Importantly it has a strap to go over the top of you head which is important if you don't want a bruised nose. £17.

I bought a Gamma, and when the battery cover broke, they sent me a replacement cover for free. Great customer service.

Did you buy this on the alpkit website or elsewhere? It's sold out on alpkit and I haven't found it anywhere else so far :-(

petzl neo should be able to get it for around £73

+2 for Alpkit (though I think the Gamma is currently out of stock). The Alpkit Viper and Muon are both good alternatives.

I put one on my Christmas list. I ran in my aldi cap with LED's in the brim today and the flippin thing got blown clear off my head. It dinked off the nose of a passing akita. I thought I was Kennomeat!

I needed the lights on this morning! Very murky indeed. Hope 🎅 brings me the alp kit ☺

Oh yes those Gamma Alpkits look really good . Theyve sold out though. Ha ha I think it must be everyone on here getting one, we've cleaned them out ! :-) xxx
