I had 2 urges this morning... Bacon butties and a long run. Now whilst I would not normally recommend a couple of bacon baps and long run, I thought what the hell and put my normal porridge and dried fruit back in the cupboard and dived into the fridge!!
Well... long (training run) of 17k completed and don't feel any worse for my pork powered run I even got my best ever overall pace for that distance.
Happy running folks and well done to all you who got out for a Parkrun this morning... too early for me.. ZZzzzz

They're really nice, GM. I bought more only yesterday, funny enough. Our local Cooperative used to sell them too but as with most things I like, they stopped selling them. Healthy though, I enjoy them as part of a BLT with Dijon mustard. xx
Speaking with my pig farming and nutrition student hats on, those are neither good for your, nor guiltfree.
1.) 5% less fat... that's the good for you bit? first off, dietary fat is ot bad for you, certainly in those quantities.
2.) The welfare standards of intensively reared supermarket pork, imported from countries where they do not even have to adhere to the already appalling standards we have here, are enough to turn me vegan. The amount of abs they pump these pigs with to get 60% of them to slaughterweight alive warrants the label 'chemical shi*storm'.
3.) with added water? DAfuq? they are actually promoting the saline they have injected into it to make up the weight as a plus? That yummy white scum that is exuded when you cook it?
4.) per 100g... 3.5g fat, 37.4g protein, 1.2g carbohydrate (gotta stick some sugar in there to counter the fat they have 'taken out')... that's 48.9g of food per 100g. WTF is the rest? water? 51% of t is water?
Nice one Andy. Very impressive pork powered progress
hey Andy 17k is a cracking run , well done even on bacon baps as fuel . I wa sout early this morning 7.30am it was a gorgeous time sun rising mist off the fields
Good to hear from you Rob, glad you're out there and hopefully your injury is now behind you. I'm not great first thing in the morning, but still had some lovely misty views this morning.
Thanks Andy, all good with the knee, being quite cautious to be honest ... but still managing 31min for 5k at parkrun and back up to 7.5k on my longer run hoping to hit 10k before Christmas
Good news on your recovery.. I still dream of getting anywhere near 30mins for a 5k! No marathon, but another half at the beginning of Nov thus the longer runs
Great stuff Andy HM are I think are beyond me , will be happy to run a few 10K's next year I cant believe how quick the times goes , back into autumn and winter running mode again . running tights here I come
I am on the pork power team! Prefer to enjoy it after running though. Did have a cup of tea before running this morning, best run ever too, might try that again but unconvinced that bacon will be good before running LOL, keeping it for a reward! Julie
