I've been walking + running 6 km everyday with low carb diet, still not losing weight. Though, I feel my my trousers are getting loose now.
Walking 6-7 km a day and not lossing weight wi... - Couch to 5K
Walking 6-7 km a day and not lossing weight with a low card diet.
But for how long have you been doing this?? I have lost around 10Kg - BUT it has taken me 2 years to do it. I am now running around 30 klm average per week - and seem to have come to a balance in the weight situation - not losing or putting on.
Most here will probably tell you that body shape does change considerably - even when weight does not seem to be going . I have lost 8 inches around my waist line!!
We put on excess weight over long periods of time - and it takes us an equal amount to lose it!! We need to incorporate into our daily life - good eating habits and exercise - so that they are just like brushing our teeth every morning - just something we do and if we miss out for some reason, we feel uncomfortable about it until it is done!!
2 weeks is not a very long time in weight loss terms. Give it 2 months and see.
I have been using an App called My Fitness Pal which is free. It allows u to see how many calories you need to reach ur weight goal. You can track all the food u eat, weight loss and exercise. I have lost 17 lbs so far with 28 still to lose. It is coming off steadily and slowly. Eating less calories than u burn will result in losing. Exercise alone is not likely to work because we can eat more to compensate and we need to b careful cutting out carbs as they are used by the body so there can b some withdrawals. Julie 😀
Don't forget that jogging for a mile only burns about 100 calories, I was shocked when I found out!
Well done for sticking at it! Two weeks is early days yet, but don't worry, it will happen! In January, I gave up alcohol and walked for a month. Then I kicked into the C25K programme, finished it and continued running. I've lost 2 stone over eight months, and stabilized. So keep on track, and deal with one day at a time. You've got this
I only lost about 3.5k while on the programme,my weights still coming down very slowly. I virtually eat what I want and don't put on any weight, I do watch out for an excess of sugar & fats, and usually run 5k 3 times a week.
AlI can say is keep at it, well done for getting out and doing it..
Losing weight requires an overall calorie deficit in your diet. A low carb diet is not necessarily a low calorie diet, particularly if you are eating a lot of protein, and 2 weeks is not long enough to really see any difference.
Becoming active and walking/running 6-7 km a day is a great initiative. That could be 500-600 calories you're burning additional each day. Sounds great, but remember that a 'healthy' drink like Juicy Water Lemons & Limes has 160 calories in one 420ml bottle. Canned drink like San Pelligrino sparkling Blood Orange has 160 calories in one 330ml can, with 8 teaspoons of sugar.
So, you are doing the right thing by losing weight. Walking/running doesn't burn as many calories as we'd like. And be careful about hidden calories. Try a weight-loss app like MyFitnessPal if you want to get very scientific.
Great to hear that your trousers are loosening, a good sign that you are getting fitter and more trim. The weight loss will come, but it may take a while.
Best wishes.
Please don't worry it will happen. It took me a year to lose a stone and I still have half a stone to go. Like running its slow and steady, I have tried all sorts of diets including no carb, I couldn't stick 5:2 etc. I found getting scales and measuring food helped, knowing what a portion size looks like, now a bag of pasta and rice lasts much longer. I have dished coke zero and diet, which really helped!! Even though it says no sugar for someone reason not having it helped with weight loss. Eat green, fill your basket with colour and eat as much green as possible (not just lettuce) and just be patient.
I only lost 3lb doing couch to 5k on its own, even though I consider myself to have a pretty healthy diet. It wasn't until I started the NHS 12 week plan that the lbs really started coming off. I've now lost 24lbs which is roughly 10kg. You can't just cut carbs to lose weight. It's a good idea to reduce the amount of bread, pasta, unnecessary surplus carbs, but not cut them out completely. Overall you need a balanced diet, but with smaller portions. Counting calories and choosing nutritious, slow-releasing food helps to achieve this. Good luck
where can i access NHS 12 week plan?
nhs.uk/livewell/weight-loss...
There is also a forum on here for people following the plan:

Good luck
I've never seen a forum so active, first day I joined the forum and you seen so many replies.
Thanks to all.
If I am doing a mix of Jog and Walk should I keep activity to 1 hour each day for 6 days or 5 is enough?
Depends on the mix maybe better to run one day (this plan) and walk on the rest days. I did slimming world with C25K and for many weeks didn't lose anything ( I was losing every week before I started this) My consultant said it was something to do with holding onto water in the early running days. So basically you will lose weight if you are eating the right food ( Slimming World you can eat loads and loads) Exercise will not speed it up but will tone your body and make you feel better.
ok, I will now try C25K app and see, what happens. will let you know.
also any multivitamins you're using to feel good
I am using oxylent
If you eat real healthy food and keep exercising then you are bound to lose weight. Watch your portion sizes though. It does take a while so don't be in a hurry. Once you get into the habit of eating healthily and exercising it will become second nature and you won't want to go back to how things were before
Good luck with it. Stick at it!
If you can do enough exercise to create a calorie deficit, you will eventually lose weight. That means quite a lot of exercise - being active for an hour or two every day, and preferably incorporating some weights work into what you do. It also means eating sensibly - not necessarily going on a diet, but watching portion size and avoiding the crap. I have never gone on a diet and have found running plus swimming and weights and other things has changed my shape quite a lot, and reduced by weight a bit. It probably took 6-8 months to lose the first stone.
İf your trousers are loosening then, you are losing fat and fat cells do not goes bye bye in one step. For your skin to adjust, fat cells become water cells and then lost. There are phases. Additionally you might gain some muscles. Don’t care scale so much.
