Do 30 mn mean 5 K ? Sorry to be so stupid...and thanks for your answers
a silly question: Do 30 mn mean 5 K ? Sorry to... - Couch to 5K
a silly question
If you mean 30 minutes then no it doesn't always. The best time I have done for 5K is 34 minutes. Don't worry about time at the moment, that will come.
Hi. No you don't need to run 5k in 30 minutes to graduate. You just need to run for 30 minutes. My graduation run was 4.2km
I take around 50 minutes to run 5k and I'm now working on speed using the C25K+ podcasts to help with that.
You're not stupid, the 2 are talked about interchangeably on the podcasts but not many people are covering 5k when they first run for 30 mins - and in my case probably never will.
I'm still working towards the 30 minute 5K - I don't think many people manage it for graduation. What's important is running for 30 minutes, not the distance you cover.
Im on week 9, run 1 (30 mins) i covered 4.5k and run 2 covered 4k, i knew i was slower on this run and i'm expecting to be around the 4k mark on run 3.
lots of posts i've read say that most people don't do 5k at the end of week 9 and that really the plan should be called couch to 30 minutes, although they say that this doesn't sound as good as couch to 5k.
I agree with mfamilias with the line 'what's important is running for 30 minutes, not the distance you cover'. thats good advice!
Hiya... imagine you are talking to your friends about this program... "I'm doing this amazing program getting me running. It's called "Couch to running 3 times a week for 30 minutes". Not quite as catchy as C25K... but on the W1r1 podcast, Laura spells out the objective very clearly. 5km or 30 minutes, 3 times a week.
The majority of graduates on this forum have achieved 30 minutes. It is much less common to also cover 5km in this time. It doesn't matter, you will still be a graduate.
To graduate all you need to do is run 3 x 30min in week 9 , the distance doesn't matter at this point, some do manage 5k in 30 mins a lot don't ! so don't worry about it just go out and enjoy the runs ..
Distance and pace etc can be worked on after graduation
