ventured out this morning for W7R1 ..... after a full week recovering from a pulled calf and a pulled back from W6R3 !!! Started off very steady , not wanting to repeat the injuries ... Managed all the way to 20 mins then ouch ! The other calf decided it wanted a go .... Fingers crossed it's ok for Thursday morning .

Sounds sore - well done getting back out there.

Make sure you are well warmed up before you venture out - especially if you are running in the early morning before your muscles have started their day! If your calves are causing problems, you could try some gentle calf stretches before you run, or after your first 5-10 mins.

Usually it's important to stretch after (which you also want to do) but stretching before might help reduce the tendency to strain muscles.

Ah, I remember it well.....exactly what happened to me!

Make sure you warm up before you leave the house, nothing strenuous, just plenty of moving around and once you get going, don't over-stride, short steps landing with your foot in line with your hips are best. Also, nice and slow, don't try and go quickly, and maybe even go back to run/walk for a week or so just to be sure the calves are ready.

I know it's a pain (!) but don't be tempted to run through it, an extra couple of weeks will only help increase your strength and stamina and benefit you in the end.

Not what you're looking for?
