Slight bad language caution if such things offend you.
But a really inspiring and very valid tale. It is so easy to let our egos get in the way of what we know to be the right thing.

That is such a good read, thanks for posting. I did my first 28 min run this morning so am quite pleased with myself. I'd never even heard of ultra marathons!
Brilliant ! Thanks for posting this Rig xxx
Yes life can sometimes find a way to bite us on the bum when we're least expecting it . We take so much for granted , not realising that things can change in a heartbeat .
I have signed up for emails from her website, really looking forward to see how she progresses
Absolutely brilliant read and very thought provoking
Cheers Rig xxx
Just read it...wow. what a woman, and makes you realise how fragile it all is and how quickly we can be back at square one, which re-enforces the need just to enjoy it whether its long or short distances and be thankful that we can
Great read. Thank you Rignold.
wow...that is some flipping story!!
That was a good read, ta!
It also made me think on how we can get so easily become addicted... because that is addiction - albeit healthier than most - always wanting more and then suffering if we don't get enough of it or we cannot do it any longer.
We worry about the silliest things. At the end of everything all that matters is health - our own and that of those we love. Puts my "cant really be arsed to run 5km today'" into sharp perspective! Thanks for the post.
That really is a great read. Just getting back to doing it to enjoy it is a great thing. Sometimes it's good to put the PB goals on hold for a while and just enjoy it.
Thanks Rig a good read and makes you realise how easy it is to get carried away. It's not all about faster, further, tougher it's about being able to, and enjoying 😊
Great read. Thanks for sharing. ☺
Awesome read, makes you think doesn't it!
Great read, I must admit I don't wear heals as often as I used to for fear of twisting my ankle, it just takes seconds to get injured. Couldn't help but wonder if the Laura with the 5km plan for beginners is the same as our Laura?
I'm reading that with an ice pack on my leg. BUT It's selfish to be so fed up about not running when my friend just died!!
Reality check
Thanks Rig x
I don't know anybody who does 40 mile ultra-marathons -- but I do know lots of people who go to Parkrun. And I see them get caught up in this NEVER ENDING quest to run 5K faster and faster! They all say "Oh- I am only challenging myself " -- but I am reminded of the alcoholic with his/her explanations of his/her behaviour -- Rationalisations of why they are doing what they are doing - even though they don't really know why they are doing it.
Ice cream is good - but too much ice cream is bad!!!
Thanks for posting Rig, this really resonated with me.
