The customer still takes a risk as well... the shoes that seemed great in Sweatshop that I could have gone away and ordered actually turned out to be dreadful for real running, but because I'd bought them from Sweatshop, back they went, covered in mud and were exchanged with a smile.
(Which isn't to say I've bought all my shoes from specialist running shops but those were the most expensive. And would still have been expensive online)
I agree, I returned 3 pairs to a shop in Cambridge earlier this year...the only way I'd buy on line would be to replace a shoe I knew worked for me...I think too that the length of time they spend helping you deserves a sale...
Nearly as insanely huge as my son's feet... I caught people pointing the other day!
He can't tolerate shoe shops at all... New Balance's direct online ordering is a godsend - free p&p level is not hard to achieve and free returns. And they have a factory in the UK (sadly the UK shoes which are really a fashion item are very expensive... makes you think doesn't it?)
I resisted going last night as it was raining heavy, and I had to be in work early for a meeting today. Therefore 05:00 tomorrow morning (Wed) they will be hitting the streets
