Tried them on in the sports shop in Cambridge, didn't buy them but came home and got them online at a third of the price :)

Asics Gel Galaxy 7.

Now to decide if I go out of phase and run tomorrow on my rest day :)

Thanks for this. My asics model is GT2000 and not on the catalogue. Every continent must have different models.

of course you should run tomorrow. You have new running shoes. You should go out and run tonight in them too.

I don't want to start a debate but this is one of the reasons why shops eventually close. No-one wants to pay over the odds, but really...

I do agree with you, on the other hand my "finance minister" is keeping me on a tight budget, so I always need a bargain.....

The customer still takes a risk as well... the shoes that seemed great in Sweatshop that I could have gone away and ordered actually turned out to be dreadful for real running, but because I'd bought them from Sweatshop, back they went, covered in mud and were exchanged with a smile.

(Which isn't to say I've bought all my shoes from specialist running shops but those were the most expensive. And would still have been expensive online)

I agree, I returned 3 pairs to a shop in Cambridge earlier this year...the only way I'd buy on line would be to replace a shoe I knew worked for me...I think too that the length of time they spend helping you deserves a sale...

Then I used what I saved to treat the family to a day out at Woburn in a few weeks :)

Couldnt get that on line unfortunately.

Daps was what we called our PE shoes at school that other people call pumps or plimsolls.

We called them daps when I was at infant school! Uncle was in the navy though so that could have had something to do with it. Very nice daps!

I tried these ok when I bought mine but we're a right bugger to even get on - you must have super narrow feet, haha!

Size 12's, but they fit perfectly :)

Nearly as insanely huge as my son's feet... I caught people pointing the other day!

He can't tolerate shoe shops at all... New Balance's direct online ordering is a godsend - free p&p level is not hard to achieve and free returns. And they have a factory in the UK (sadly the UK shoes which are really a fashion item are very expensive... makes you think doesn't it?)

I resisted going last night as it was raining heavy, and I had to be in work early for a meeting today. Therefore 05:00 tomorrow morning (Wed) they will be hitting the streets :)

Huntingdon Ring Road got a pounding this morning :)

New shoes were fantastic, weather was nice, swans were awake.

Only issue was, by using the new lacing technique there was a distinct lack of lace length to tie a decent bow.
