Big whoop- 6k!!

I did it, in the pissing rain (excuse my french!) and windy conditions. I just got my act together and didn't question it and put my shoes on and went out that door.Switched my brain off. I'd set myself to try getting to 3k in this weather, and if I made that I'd go to 5k and if I was still feeling the love I'd go for 6k, which is within my 10% increase allowed (still trying to avoid the injury couch!!) and the first ever time in my life I've ever run that far. I settled to a slow pace but one I know is my average and comfortable, and I just dandered along and noticed the wild garlic and the blue bells and white bells, the goldfinches flirting round the hedgerows. I saw a gushing, gurgling stream, little orange pigs and a plastic life sized cow which I patted on the way past like a good talisman! The cars passing didn't bother me and I stuck to the little pavement and I was thinking each time 'bet they wish they were running in the rain like me!' Possibly they were thinking 'who's the mad woman' . What a glorious run, and no pressure or anything, just a chance to see what this body can do! still on the runners high now!!

Fantastic! I've been increasing my distance too, settling at a comfortable pace and taking everything in around me :-). It's an amazing experience, isn't it? Glad you enjoyed it :-)
