Just done run 2 of week 7 after failing last time out. I set my tomtom to pace mode and completed 3.17 miles in 27:45, I forget to press start on my C25K app so had to just go off my tomtom watch. Thought I'd share that with you all, hope you didn't mind?
eh I can run slow: Just done run 2 of week... - Couch to 5K
eh I can run slow
That's a brilliant time. Well done you!
Hi Hilbean
Thanks for that, I hope you are ok or as well as can be expected under the circumstances. I hope also you are managing to keep up the good work yourself?
Thinking of you, many thanks. x
cheers Hilbean,
pleased to hear you are bearing up, I'll keep you posted. Maybe I was a little fitter, I have walk almost 1000 miles since last May then switched to running in November. I live on the pennines so there are a lot of very hilly walks round here, but running them hills is altogether different. The park run is a very hilly course, people who have traveled to run it, say it is one of the hardest they have done. If you like, message me and I'll send you a link to the photo's page of the park run and point out which is me lol. Your effort is heroic and it is fantastic that you are carrying on with it.
Slow???? 9 minute miles are not slow - not for me anyway!!! 9 minute klms are slow!!!
That's really fast! Don't overdo the speed , just concentrate on completing the time until you graduate and then you can let rip! 😃
Thank you guys, you're too kind, but its slow as far as I'm concerned I don't mean to sound arrogant or anything. There are guys my age running a very hilly park run in 21 minutes now that's fast! Although I was looking at some records for park runs and Johnny Brownlee ran York in 14 minutes 45 seconds, blimey! That's seriously fast, sadly, try as I might, I don't think I'm going to manage that.
You're doing so well! I can't believe you're managing to run those kind of speeds (a) when you're only on week 7 and (b) on a hilly route!!!
Perhaps you're blessed with both a naturally long stride and a fast cadence, but you really do seem to be speeding along. I think I've said it before, but I think you'd really benefit from a heart monitor once you graduate so that you can get the majority of your running done in the correct "zone" and then put in some intervals to help with your speed work (as if you need it, ha ha ). Doing lots of nice SLOW runs will build your stamina.
Sounds like you're doing absolutely great. But look after yourself, I want to hear regular updates on your progress, and don't want to read anything about injuries.
PS a few months down the line, do travel to somewhere with a flat parkrun. I bet you'd love to know what your pb would be there!
Thanks for that, funny enough I was looking at hear rate monitors. I will admit I do want to post times on my local park run at around 25 mins, but think that might be some time off. I have a typical runners build tall and long legs, so maybe that helps. I post some more times from week 8 in the next few days.
Many thanks
Aha! I asked "how to run slow", you are the right person to answer my question as you " can run slow"
lol, I had to set my running watch to pace mode 7:50 to 8:0 mins per mile, it was still a struggle I ended up speeding up.
