Wish I could tell you, I get it a lot, I just keeping running through it in the hope it will eventually go. I've tried a few gels and a knee support but don't seem o make any difference. I guess its just not used to being used as much as it is now.
Where is the pain? Last Sunday, on my first postgraduate run, at the end, when I broke into a walk, I got some quite bad pain on the inside of my knee. I iced it when I got home and did some googling. The idea of taping seemed to be the most likely way to address it. I didn't want to have to stop running to rest it, as I'd just graduated and was so keen to run.
On my next trip to Tesco, I looked at what they had, and bought some tubular bandage. On my next run, Tuesday, I put a length of it from my lower thigh to my upper calf, so the knee was encased. As soon as I put it on it felt more comfortable and secure. While I was prepared to cut the run short if I felt pain (the sensible thing to do, since it would only make things worse to keep running) the run went fine, with no pain. I wore it for another run Thursday (these were all 5k runs) and for my first Parkrun today. It's been fine.
You might want to try that?
Well done!! Ugh sorry to hear you have knee pain, only suggestions I have is back to basics - use your rest days, more than one if needed and a good pair of trainers.
It might just be your knees getting used to running. Make sure you ice them regularly, consider using a foam roller (or rolling pin) on them, maybe take more rest days and stretch after each run. Try building up your surrounding muscles like quads and glutes as everything is connected and a weakness in these areas will affect your knees.
