Don't think about it too much, download the podcasts onto ipod or phone, grab your key, pop your trainers on and some clothes and go. It will best thing you do, it takes half an hour and you will feel great for getting started.!! Welcome to c25k :)

Thanks so much for that good advice - I meant to say that I plan to run early tomorrow morning so will do just that - get up and go! Any advice on picking a route? - I just plan to run around a local estate until I work out how far I get in half an hour.

That sounds sensible. Stay on the flat if possible to start with. You will also soon learn which pavements are 'slopy' - (people's front drives/pedestrian crossings/water run-off) those are an absolute bugger for your knees! Avoid them!

Enjoy it! I started 8 weeks ago, and just started my week 9 this morning. I've never considered myself a runner, and found the early weeks hard work. Today I ran 5K for the first time, and I'm walking on air.

Stick to the plan, and you'll be amazed how well you do.

Go for it! I've just done week one, not without some difficulties but I did enjoy it 😄

Go for it, the first step out the door is always the most nerve racking but honestly it really isn't bad. Take it slow and steady and remember to come back with a big smile on your face because you took that first step out the door. Have fun.

Wow thanks guys - this is a great forum and your advice and positive comments are a real boost - looking forward to it now! :-)

Yes, do it today, take a rest day and then get back out there. It's a life-changing programme that anyone can do but the consequences are huge. I can't tell you how grateful I am that my pal at WeightWatchers got me onto it. I've never looked back. Neither will you

Have fun!

Go for it Sazzle!

I found the very first run tough going. I would recommend that you go slow - much slower than you think you should. It's endurance not speed that is important.

Looking forward to seeing your progress.

I certainly will - after all these great positive comments and sound advice I'm really looking forward to it, even though I suspect it will be tough. I have all my new running gear laid out and ready for the morning!!

It's a really good programme, easy to stick to, just take it really slow.

Crack on, the 9 weeks will fly by.

Good luck :)

Good luck from me as well - I also run early morning. I was recommended to look at openstreetmap.org to find good paths via canals, rivers, parks etc. and have managed to improve my route that way. You won't need too much planned for the first couple of weeks, but as you get further on it will be good to plan out some longer distances.
