Hi, just wondered if anyone can give me advice on which are best running trainers to get? I am on tight budget so can't spend a fortune, but now I know I am going to stick with it I want to treat myself.
Thanks in advance

Hi Deb
Everybody is different regarding trainers. The best thing to do is go to a "proper" running shop (Sweatshop or similar) and get a gait analysis done. You will have to run on a treadmill for a few minutes and the assistants will be able to tell you what kind of shoes are best for you. It doesn't have to be mega expensive either, just explain your budget and they should be able to get you sorted.
Good luck
It also depends on what type of running you are planning on doing. If you are only going to run on track or road then I'd agree have a gait analysis done. But if you are going to run on fell or trail then it a gait analysis wont really matter since your foot will be all over the place anyway. But, eh, what do I know?
Well, you know the same as I was told at Sweatshop - that gait analysis doesn't inform the choice of trail running shoe (which is what I have) I did get the custom insoles but don't wear them for running (didn't want them to get dirty!) They've been really helpful in everyday footwear though.
If you buy from somewhere that has a used exchange policy, that could be much better value for you - a shoe that you can't run in is a waste of money, and you can't always tell until you get out there.
Once you've had a 'perfect' pair of shoes though you may have a feel for what is likely to work for you.
Once you've had your gait analysed don't be rushed into buying the most expensive shoes. Ask if they have any of last seasons shoes out back. They'll be exactly the same shoes, just last seasons colours! If you go to Sweatshop they'll make you custom fitted insoles. Don't feel you have to buy them. They couldn't care less if you don't. If they don't have any of last seasons shoes you could always try looking on line, but never buy shoes on line without trying the same make and model on in a shop first. Good luck
Yep, last season's will be cheaper. I bought karrimor tempo cheaply from SD and they're fine
I have Tempos as well and they are fine for me, but may be inappropriate for you and don't expect much in the way of advice from Sports Direct. I have also just had my first gait analysis, after nearly two years running, because I am running on roads more now. Gait analysis should identify how your foot strikes the ground and whether it rolls inwards, outwards or is neutral. Take the advice given. We are all different.
Good luck.
I have been using asics for a few years now. Suggested by my Boss who runs marathons around tge world ! 😊if you get the previous year model you can get them for 60 65 pounds
