I noticed something on w5r3 i took the run a lot slower than previous runs but i had plenty of energy left at the end. so I'm thinking of taking the first 10 mins slowly allowing me to get into that comfortable zone then open up slightly to my normal pace. good or bad idea?
Week 6 game plan.: I noticed something on w5r3 i... - Couch to 5K
Week 6 game plan.
Brilliant idea
Great idea. And don't worry about speeding up.
thx guys...I'll see how i get on
The important thing is to keep going, there is no time limit, have to cross a road, jog on the spot. Around 3 years ago I was running 30 to 40 miles a week, I'm using c25k as a gradual return to running. The feeling of wellbeing I got from running can't really be described, my motivation to run was the passing of my dad recently, he ran till about 75, weight loss is a great by product of running, when you reach the level where you go into an almost trance like state, really is one of best feelings you can have with your clothes on
30-40 miles a week that's impressive. I agree with all your points i just found that with w5r3 i did take it slower than i usually run and i had a lot left in reserve at the end. I'm not so much advocating speed as just moving to my normal pace after 10 mins of slow running/jogging until I get to the point were my breathing and legs feel really comfortable if that makes sense. The whole reason I started c25k was to see if it could improve my depression and its completely transformed it so I understand your motivation.
I'm sorry for your loss I lost my mother a couple of years ago it was a very difficult time I which I'd started c25k back then.
I think what some people miss on this c25k is that it should be enjoyable, it may be hard work but if you arent enjoying it, then its a chore, nobody likes a chore. Ive suffered from depression in the past, its a horrible dark place to be, I started using the Headspace app, its meditation, its put so much in perspective and definitely works with my running goals, people seem to neglect how powerful their mind is, it needs looking after too x
That's a really good point about enjoying c25k...Infact i once heard depression described as the loss of joy or enjoyment... starting this has given me joy back in my life and not just the running side of things. I haven't felt this good in nearly 20 years. Funny that you mentioned meditation I've been looking into Mindfulness CBT and a large component of that is meditation.
I love running and music, love playing guitar and keyboard, yet to meet the woman of my dreams, I just think what will be will be,
It's a good idea. The only time I have had a problem was one of the runs it W8 where I got a bit cocky and went off far too fast.
Hope you feel better soon , Leggit, shame youve been struck down with the flu just in your prime. Shame that xxx
I felt a lot better today and decided to try the 1st run of week six and test my theory out. I'm glad to report it worked. I took the first 10mins running very slowly until my lungs and legs were comfortable then increased the pace (very slightly) on the back end. I still had a little in reserve at the finish but not much. I can see why week six catches ppl out.
