I’ve done it! Week 5 Run 3!!! I was dreading it, considered delaying when I saw the frost this morning, but was inspired by your amazingly supportive comments to newbies facing this challenge. And sure enough, like many before me, I am still grinning from ear to ear six hours later.
This is my first posting. I was never confident I’d make it this far (or even beyond the first day, TBH), but came across you lovely people when I needed it the most. So in the spirit of giving back, I signed up to the forum so that I can say to anyone in need of a confidence boost right now, those famous words – ‘if I can do it anyone can!’
I’ve always fancied running. In the past I’ve been a (not very enthusiastic) gym member and tried running on the dreadmill (ended up with shin pain and backache). BUT, here’s the thing: I am the most idle 62 year old lady imaginable and have no idea why I chose to follow this programme rather than stay on the couch (which I love very much). I came across it whilst idly surfing the net, thought ‘That looks do-able’, put on my trainers and went for it. That was a month ago, and after the first 60 second run I thought I was going to die. However, thanks to my best friend Laura (and the rest of you) I’ve got this far and fully intend to complete the full 9 weeks!
