When is that? May? Plenty of time. Go for it!

Woohoo better start researching 10k plans. It's doable but it'll be hard work.

10th May is 3 months away, so that's probably bags of time. You should be at the 30 minutes continuous running stage by the end of next week if you can keep to the plan. From there I would look at slowly increasing your distance for at least one run a week (but no more than 10% at a time). If you are anything like me, I suspect that you'll suddenly realise that the extra distance is do-able. I load up a set of tunes I can listen to, drop my pace back from my 5K pace and just keep plodding away. It's amazing how quickly the time flies when you are enjoying yourself :)

10% overall on week's total, not on the long run, though. So if you do 3 x 5ks in the week you can add 1.5k the first week, 1.65 the next, 1.8 the one after etc. Which would have you up close to 10k within a month.

Good for you! I'm sure you'll be sensible and build up slowly. Other cross training would be good too. Don't forget lots of stretching and foam rollering! Good luck.
