Garmin went in the washing machine....

Don't ask how it happened but my garmin needed up in the wash today. Well I know it's waterproof but a washing machine survival might be asking too much. I managed to get it turned on and it's been a few hours and all looks ok. The true test will be tomorrow on my run so fingers crossed.

I would not recommend but my garmin is lovely and clean.

What's going on with electronics here?! What with your Garmin and the washer, and Poppy's laptop vs tea incident, it's not going well!

Hope your Garmin is okay, Vix! :-)

Oh me too! I don't know. I serves me right always plug your garmin in after a run. If it works. I. Take back what I saidabout modern gadgets not being made of tougher stuff.

Fingers and toes crossed - would a Garmin come under 'delicates' or 'synthetics'? Plus I'd love to see the map it produces after that 'trip' :) Hope it works out.

Well before today I would have said delicates but now I think it's more synthetics. I hope it works tomorrow too I will keep everyone posted. I thought I was a goner but it just turned it self off for a nice bath.

You should contact Garmin and tell them yours has survived a washing machine cycle! They might use your case as a marketing tool!

I might do if it manages to accurately measure my run tomorrow morning. Nothing like freshly washed running gear.

I left in the shade to dry for a few minutes :)

Me too out to test it soon. Need to have my morning coffee first.

In all honestly I would put it in a sealed container of rice, so that the moisture can be thoroughly drawn out. And leave it off.

iPod nano survived similar.

I should have done that with my first nano - it was the first model and I left it in gym bag with water top loose.

Bad news Vix. I'm with ZoomZoom on this. Both daughters have dropped their phones down the toilet at least once, and both phones survived after being put in a bag a rice in the airing cupboard for a few days. Good luck m'dear, fingers crossed x

Thanks the apartment is pretty warm and when I left it out side for a few minutes it managed to correct itself so fingers crossed it's ok. I will keep in mind as I am sure it's only a matter of time before something else is exposed to water.

Just thirding the bag of rice suggestion..!
