Week3: First run of week 3 tommorow and so... - Couch to 5K
Week3
Well done, you sound like another running junkie in the making. It took most of us by surprise and changed our lives. I try to mainly run off road but inevitably hard surfaces have to be encountered. Surprisingly, it is generally easier to run on tarmac or concrete because of the even nature. Running on grass is less shock to the old leg joints and the minor deviations in surface supposedly strengthen all those ankle joints, but you will find you can run faster on the man made surfaces.
Good luck with exploring the world wide running track.
Thanks lan, I thought that may be the case in such case may cause a few issues pacing my run when switching to pavements etc
Grass is slippery when wet!!! Take care. You feel the grass absorbing the shock though, but it's just harder work than running on a hard surface. It's good for the soles of the feet to have a break from the relentless thud of Tarmac and concrete, so looking for changes of surface is quite a good thing I think. If you find you like running off-road then you could treat yourself to some trail shoes
Glad to hear we have another running nut!
